According to the dictionary, an adventure is ‘an unusual and exciting or daring experience’ and to adventure is to ‘engage in risky or daring activity.’ At the moment, all I want to do is make life one big adventure, throw caution to the wind and take a risk.

I am living in one of the most beautiful, exciting cities in the world and every day, there are a million adventures to be had.  Whether it’s complimenting someone on the tube and making their day, touring the entirety of London’s famous landmarks at night on foot with someone you don’t know too well or trying to have as much fun as possible on a budget of around £13.  Whether it’s simply wearing red lipstick or having cup of tea, teapot and all, in a traditional pub, or eating only dessert for dinner at a restaurant every night for a week – shake things up! Before you know it, you won’t be able to tell yesterday from the day before because you’ve stopped having adventures and all your days become one.  You don’t have to skydive or shave off all your hair for charity to feel alive- but you do have to actually live.

I’m not saying to be stupid, or to #YOLO every bad decision or even to stop working hard, just make sure you’re still having fun too, or else really, what is the point?  Too much of our lives are spent stepping back from the possibilities of an adventure and stepping in the direction of regrets.

Sometimes, you should just neglect to weigh up the pros and cons, you should throw away the map, God, close your eyes! Give yourself a surprise instead of always waiting to be surprised. Because, what’s the fun and where’s the adventure if you know what’s coming!? Go on, engage in daring and risky activity once in a while. Have an adventure.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt
